While lots of press is generated in April for Earth Day, May brings another one of my favorite spotlight on nature celebrations, International Migratory Bird Day.
I’ve been celebrating it at the Nashville Zoo for the past few years. A great green item is a bird house kit. Bluebird houses make a particularly great item. I have one outside my kitchen window and was able to watch a few generations of bluebirds grow up until the sparrows took it over last year. The blue birds come back each year and try to take back over, but lose out in the end.
I’m not sure who drew the bluebird in the photo at right, but it is not accurate. Anyway, the house is perfect.
Although we started converting our lighting to CFL a few years ago, we have always been irked at the plastic wrapping protecting the bulbs we buy. Finally, here is a great idea for a great item. A Box for a CFL Bulb.
